After playing for USC and their famed "all-black backfield," Sam Cunningham played for the New England Patriots for his entire pro career.

Cunningham was taken in the First Round (11^thOverall) in 1973, and he had four years where he eclipsed the 1,000 Yard mark in Yards From Scrimmage. The Full Back also had a 1,000 Year Rushing season in 1977, and the following season he was a Pro Bowl Selection. He sat out the 1980 season due to a contract dispute, but returned for two more seasons, retiring after 1982.

Cunningham would have 49 Touchdowns and 7,358 Yards From Scrimmage over his career.
