Marvin Berry and the Starlighters
We first saw Marvin Berry and Starlighters as they played the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. After a set, Marvin Berry injured his hand with a screwdriver helping Marty McFly out of a trunk. McFly stepped in with the guitar during “Earth Angel”, but electrified the crowd by singing (ok, lip synching) Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Good. Or was it really Chuck’s song as Marvin called his cousin Chuck and told him that he “found the new sound he was looking for”.

Marie DeSalle

Marie DeSalle
You will have to forgive our irrational crush on Lisa Bonet, but she was at her sultry best in High Fidelity where with her long dreadlocks and extended cameo with John Cusack we could not help but watch over and over again. Come one…we can’t be the only ones can we?

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
High Fidelity (2000)

Actor:
Lisa Bonet

Songs you might remember:
I Love Your Way

Why you should vote for her:
How about because you also have a crush on Lisa Bonet?

Why you should not vote for her:
We completely agree that there is a far better candidate from this movie.

The Mambo Kings

Mambo Kings The
We were not sure if they had a name for their band, so “The Mambo Kings” is what we are going for on the ballot. From the film of the same name, we have the story of two brothers from Cuba who flee from Havana to the States. There, they eventually pick up where they left off, playing clubs in New York City, like they did in Cuba. Now, as to whether this is a serious contender for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, really depends on your opinion of Cuban music and whether you saw this film or not.

Mac Sledge

Mac Sledge
Robert Duvall is one of the greatest actors of all time, and he won his lone Best Actor Oscar for his role as alcoholic Country Singer, Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies. Duvall looked the part perfectly as the tormented singer looking for redemption, and unlike other singing portrayals, Duvall sang his own songs. The best case we think for induction is that the members of the Outlaw Country Movement, of which Duvall seemed to channel, believed that he hit it out of the park, and that kind of praise should not (and cannot) be ignored.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Tender Mercies (1983)

Actor:
Robert Duvall

Songs you might remember:
If You’ll Hold the Ladder (I’ll Climb to the Top)

Why you should vote for him:
This is one of the best acting performances on the ballot.

Why you should not vote for him:
By calling it the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, did we omit this Country superstar?
