Before he became known for his charitable work with Live Aid, Bob Geldof was the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, though Pink Floyd fans remember him best as “Pink”, the self abusing delusional rocker in their film, The Wall. Although the film remains iconic, and the album it is based on is considered a masterpiece, we did not see that much of “Pink’s” ability as a rock star, and as such this could be a candidate that might be overlooked. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Pink Floyd – The Wall (1982) Actor: Bob Geldof Songs you might remember: In the Flesh? Why you should vote for him: This is based on one of (arguably) the greatest albums of all time. Why you should not vote for him: This film could have been done a different way, without a Rock and Roll protagonist. {youtube}

As down and out as you could possibly get, Otis “Bad” Blake (Jeff Bridges) was a fallen Country Music star whose star had long since faded. A severe alcoholic, Blake was still a talent, and in “Crazy Heart” we see his rocky path to redemption. The acclaimed film saw Jeff Bridges win the Best Actor Oscar and considering the talents who collaborated on the music for the film (T-Bone Burnett for example) this could be a strong underdog for the Hall. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Crazy Heart (2009) Actor: Jeff Bridges Songs you might remember: Hold on You Why you should vote for him: An Academy Award winning performance should always be considered a threat. Why you should not vote for him: Once again, we ask is this nominee too Country for what we called this Hall of Fame? {youtube}

A rare candidate in that this comes from no TV show or Film, Limozeen is from the Web Series, Homestar Runner. The band, is the favorite of Strong Bad, a major character on the series and emulates the Hair Metal genre. Does anything that is only on the Web qualify? Considering their vast fictitious history, it is not out of the realm of possibility. The Bullet Points: Web Series Appeared: Homestar Runner (2000-) Actors: Mike Chapman (Larry Palaroncini, Vocals) Matt Chapman (Gary Palaroncini, Lead Guitar) Perry Chapman (Perry Palaroncini, Bass) Matt Chapman (Mary Palaroncini, Vocals) Songs you might remember: Because its Midnite Why you should vote for them: A lot of thought went into this creation. What is it about faded alcoholic Country Music stars that Hollywood likes to churn out ever so often? We have another entry from that genre with Gwyneth Paltrow, fresh off her box office bomb, Duets, which told us she could sing, but also told us that we didn’t care. It is not this movie was bad, it was just we had seen it all before and done better. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Country Strong (2010) Actor: Gwyneth Paltrow Songs you might remember: Country Strong Why you should vote for her: Paltrow really can sing. Why you should not vote for her: If you want to vote for an alcoholic Country Singer, you can do better. {youtube}
