The brief run of the Hanna-Barbara cartoon, The Impossibles, gave us a trio of crime fighters who posed as rock musicians. This debuted in 1966, and from as near as we could tell, was cancelled in 1966. Odds are with a run this short; this is a Hanna-Barbara invention that won’t be in the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame any time soon. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Frankenstein and the Impossibles (1966) Actors: Hal Smith (Coil Man) Paul Frees (Fluid Man) Don Messick (Multi Man) Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them: We assume you shouldn’t. Why you should not vote for them: If you need to induct a cartoon, there are way better selections. {youtube}

Another that we think barely qualifies, I.R.S. was the band that Betty Suarez’ love interest, Henry managed and later sang for in Ugly Betty’s second season. We had to put this on the ballot as this program gave us a cameo from Gene Simmons, though Gene isn’t propelling this act into the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Ugly Betty (2008) Actors: Christopher Gorham (Henry Grubstick) We did not bother to research who else. Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them: The only reason we have is that America Ferrera is sneaky hot. Why you should not vote for them: They were lame and uneventful. {youtube}

Bandslam may not have appealed to the adult set, but it was never supposed to. It was a cute film geared towards the young adult set where a band brings misfits (with the name, I Can’t Go On, I’ll Go On) together. Depending on your point of view, this may not be what Rock and Roll is all about it, but at least this picture knew what it was trying to be, and the music is not that bad. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Bandslam (2009) Actors: Aly Michalka (Charlotte Barnes) Gaelen Connell (Will Burton) Vanessa Hudgens (Sa5m) Charlie Saxton (Bug) Ryan Donowho (Basher Martin) Tim Jo (Omar) Lisa Chung (Kim Lee) Elvy Yost (Irene Lerman) Songs you might remember: Everything I Own Why you should vote for them: They weren’t bad. Why you should not vote for them: Maybe they were not bad, but teen fluff only goes so far. {youtube}

From the underappreciated concept album (The Turtles present the Battle of the Bands) by the Turtles we have an albums where different “bands” appeared. This allowed the group to not only stretch their skills musically, as each “band” had a completely different sound and also showcase their humor. “Elenore” was the biggest hit from the album, which was actually parodying their biggest pop hit, “Happy Together”. The song had an artfully crafted pop sound, though lyrically it lampooned the entire genre. We wonder how many of their younger fans got the joke at the time. The Bullet Points: Album Appeared: The Turtles present the Battle of the Bands (1968) Actors/Performers: The Turtles Songs you might remember: Elenore Why you should vote for them: The “bands” lone song was a top ten hit. Why you should not vote for them: We aren’t sure ourselves if the Turtles billing themselves under another name for one song only should even count. {youtube}
