Michigan J. Frog

Michigan J. Frog
For appearing in only one Looney Tunes sketch, Michigan J. Frog was sure remembered. He was in a box and unearthed by a construction worker who found that he could sing 1920’s songs with a booming voice; that is only when he was alone with the worker. When he tries to cash in, the frog just croaked and he was buried again only to be uncovered by another construction worker in the future. When the WB (Warner Brothers) formed a network, it was the Michigan J. Frog (we aren’t sure if that is when he got his name) who was used as the mascot. Still, what does a 1920’s singing frog have to do with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even if it is fictitious?

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Looney Tunes (1955)

Actor:
Bill Roberts

Songs you might remember:
Ragtime Gal

Why you should vote for him:
The Frog had a great singing voice and became the face of a network.

Why you should not vote for him:
Does covering 1920’s songs really matter here?

Michael McCloud and Jasmine Wayne Wayne
Another entry from Mad TV, Michael McCloud (Will Sasso) and Jasmine Wayne Wayne were an Adult Contemporary singing duo whose songs all sounded exactly the same. They appeared on a few sketches culminating in a hilarious “Behind the Music” spoof and actually performed with real life rappers Master P and the Insane Clown Posse.

Meg and the Griffins

Meg and the Griffins
In one of the few “Megcentric” episodes of Family Guy, Meg receives a makeover where her new found hotness takes her to the lead of her family’s singing group (a la Partridge Family) which resulted in a hit (Gonna Buy Me A Rainbow) and a musical performance on Saturday Night Live. For us, the most memorable part was when Peter Griffin beat the snot out of Jimmy Fallon for mugging for the camera (we were glad someone finally did), as opposed to the success of the band.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Family Guy (2005)

Actors:
Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin)
Seth McFarlane (Peter and Stewie Griffin)
Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin)
Seth Green (Chris Griffin)

Songs you might remember:
Gonna Buy Me A Rainbow

Why you should vote for them:
In the world of Quahog this was a hit.

Why you should not vote for them:
Their hit was not very good.

MC Skat Kat

MC Skat Kat
The only way to make Paula Abdul worse was to pair up with a rapping cartoon cat. In the video of her number one hit (How the hell did happen?) “Opposites Attract” she performed with MC Skat Kat, which is viewed today as the “Poochie” of the music video world. How this annoying cartoon made anybody buy this album is beyond us, but at the very least Paula Abdul was not the least watchable thing in her videos. Amazingly, this crappy cat got its own album, which as best as we can tell, nobody bought. Thank God for that, or we might have had a sequel!

The Bullet Points:
Album Appeared:
Forever Your Girl (1989)

Performer:
Derrick “Delight” Stevens

Songs you might remember:
Opposites Attract

Why you should vote for him:
We grant this is a number one hit; that should mean something.

Why you should not vote for him:
This sucked.
