This nomination may be semi-autobiographical, but Chuck Berry is a legend and, in our opinion, belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Rock and Roll. Berry's most significant hit was "Johnny B. Goode," which sort of describes his upbringing and talks about one hell of a guitar player. Incidentally, this "character" has more life than beyond this one song as Berry referenced Johnny in "Bye Bye Johnny” (he goes off to make movies) and “Go Go Go” (where he explores jazz).
