In the midst of a mid-life crisis, Homer Simpson forms a band in Springfield with some of the other dads in the neighborhood (Dr. Julius Hibbert, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Kirk Van Houten and Reverend Lovejoy). Apu is the breakout star, as he recalls being inspired by Sungazer (another fictional band) and sings their hit, “Hopin’ For A Dream.” It goes without saying that Homer is jealous of Apu’s success.
