The problem with running a Hall of Fame-related website is that many of the big ones we cover all have announcements within months of each other.  The backbone of what we do is list-related, resulting in a long push to revise what we already have, specifically now with our Football and Basketball Lists.

One of the best Place Kickers of his day, David Akers, had to wait a little to prove his worth in the NFL.  Akers went undrafted out of Louisville in 1997, and after trying out for the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers, the Washington Redskins signed him, but he played only one game and missed both Field Goals (both 48-plus).

The Philadelphia Eagles gave him a shot, and after a stint with Berlin in NFL Europe, he would prove to be the Eagles' most dependable player for over a decade.  Akers went to six Pro Bowls and was a First Team All-Pro twice.  He would make the Philadelphia Eagles 75^th Anniversary Team and the 2000s All-Decade Team.  He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions and held the record for the most Points in Pro Bowl history with 57.
