1983 PRELIMINARY RESULTS:

Thank you to all who participated in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are still determining what that is, we acted like the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946.

We have completed the first 38 years thus far.

For “1983,” a Preliminary Vote with close to 100 players whose playing career ended by 1977. We are also following the structure, where players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool.

Each voter was asked to select 25 names from the preliminary list, and the top 25 vote-getters were named Semi-Finalists.

A week later, the voters will be asked to select 15 names from the 25 Semi-Finalists and then choose five from the remaining 15. We will continue this process every week until we catch up to the current year.

Please note that a significant change occurred “years ago,” allowing voters to submit fewer than the allotted spots.

It is with great pleasure that we have brought back the Notinhalloffame MLB Regular Cup, and let us explain how this works:

For every regular-season game, we anointed the top five players with the most points, in descending order: 5-4-3-2-1. 

We know the following:

• The top players for the MLB NIHOF Cup are not always the best in the league, as injuries keep players out of games, and a premium on staying healthy can help pile up points. It also does not hurt to be a top player on an average or mediocre team, as they can amass Cup points more easily than elite players on loaded squads.
• In Baseball, it is more common than in Basketball and Hockey for a player to accrue points with a single Home Run in a game, which favors position players. Starting Pitchers have a hard time with approximately 30-35 Starts and throwing fewer innings than previous generations. This is also true for closers not made for this process.
• Please remember that this is NOT necessarily who we think were the best players this year and does not reflect overall consistency. Treat this the way we did: as a fun process and more of a compilation of temporary statistical domination.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’  Freddie Freeman fell out of the Top Ten.

Notably, 1,085 baseball players have earned at least 1 point, up from 1,067 last week.

Handball has been one of the most spectacular sports at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu and captivated the fans with fast rhythm and dynamic movement as well as the close matches on the sand. Men and women competitions in beach handball have also been exemplary of exciting matches with top teams fighting each other to earn every point and medal. The tournament did not only underline the current champions but also provided newcomers an opportunity to challenge the status quo so that in every match a step to the podium could be made.

The 34 sports in which more than 4,000 athletes took part were a preview of a possible taste of what is likely to happen at Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, as handball dominated, with the event getting the most buzz. European Champions Spain and Debutants Portugal Made Their Mark in Women’s Beach Handball

Although the home crowd added their passionate support to Vietnam, it was unable to beat Germany, a team with back to back successes in The World Games and World Championship titles, and won 2-0 (26:16, 24:12). Although promising in the start of the second set when the game stood at 6:6, a direct red card handed to Quynh Do Thi Nhu was a difference maker. Germany took no time to capitalize, scoring 14:2 in the next several minutes and stamping the victory.

Growth and Expansion in Handball at The World Games 2025
