Homer Simpson
We don’t think this is a stretch at all. Any follower of the Simpsons knows that the family patriarch is a big fan of sports. However, Homer has been quite the athletic participant himself. Consider the following sports related performances:

Competing (albeit briefly) with Venus Williams as his partner in a mixed doubles tennis tournament.

Was the Head Coach for Bart’s Peewee Football team.

He boxed Drederick Tatum in his first boxing match after the former champ served jail time.

He represented the U.S.A. in mixed curling at the Winter Olympics.

He bowled a perfect game.

He pinch hit for Darryl Strawberry and drove (ok, was hit by a pitch) in the winning run over Shelbyville’s nuclear team.

He also found his way to watch the Super Bowl in Rupert Murdoch’s private box, went on a hunger strike to keep the Springfield Isotopes from moving to Albuquerque, became the mascot for Capital City, and we are only giving a handful of his sports related examples.

Yes, we know that this is a cartoon, but this is the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame after all, and Homer Simpson certainly qualifies. Now can you vote for a cartoon?

Harry Hayes

Harry Hayes
There was something likable about Harry Hayes, the British representative in the 1970 film, “The Games”. Maybe it was because on the naïve side or maybe it was because we viewed him as a distant cousin to Austin Powers. We know this much; even though we knew he wasn’t going to run that two hour Marathon, we couldn’t help but wish he could.

Haley Graham

Haley Graham
What was supposed to be “Bring it on” in the field of gymnastics, was a film that we fast forwarded through, and was sorry that Jeff Bridges was in. Haley Graham was the focal gymnast; so we’ll nominate her….we guess.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Stick It (2006)

Actor:
Missy Peregrym

Played for:
Vickerman Gymnastics Academy

Why you should vote for her:
Well, she is a gymnast with boobs. That doesn’t happen to often does it?

Why you should not vote for her:
This movie stunk.
Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump won an Academy Award for the Best Picture in 1994, but when the film was over it is certainly up for debate if any really viewed this as a sports film.

It wasn’t, it isn’t, and nor should it ever be, however when people really thought about it they realized that they saw the most versatile athlete of all time.

Think about this.

Gump was recruited by no less of a legend than Paul “Bear” Bryant to play football for the Crimson Tide and his Special Teams prowess took him to All-American status.  While the native of Greenbow did not turn pro, his foray into the army allowed him to stumble into the game of Ping Pong.  Gump was so talented that he represented the United States Army on a goodwill mission to China.  You might remember seeing him discuss his experience on the Dick Cavett Show!

In his civilian life, Gump took to running and would become known for his endurance, criss-crossing the country and back again.  Some would say his efforts were even inspirational!

The Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame is pleased to welcome Forrest Gump into the Class of 2017.
