The San Antonio Spurs to retire Tony Parker's #9
Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB. Once that is done, we intend to look at how each team honor their past players and executive. As such it is news to us that the French newspaper, Le Parisien has reported that the San Antonio Spurs will be retiring the number 9 during their home game against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 11.
We do want to state that this has not been reported by the Spurs as of this writing, but this certainly seems like a plausible story.
The French native played all but his last season in the NBA with San Antonio, the team who drafted him 28thOverall in 2001. The Point Guard would go onto be a six-time All-Star who was part of the Spurs’ “Big Three” with Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan. Parker would help San Antonio win the NBA Championship four times (2003, 2005, 2007 & 2014) and was a NBA Finals MVP in 2007. Individually, he was a three-time Second Team All-NBA Selection and a one-time Third Team All-NBA Selection. He would average 15.8 Points and 5.7 Assists with a PER of 18.3.
Parker becomes the 10thman in franchise history to have his number retired. He joins Johnny Moore (00), Avery Johnson (6), Bruce Bowen (12), James Silas (13), Manu Ginobili (20), Tim Duncan (21), Sean Elliott (32), George Gervin (44) and David Robinson (50). He is eligible for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Chris Samuels and London Fletcher to be named to the Washington Redskins Ring of Honor
Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB. Once that is done, we intend to look at how each team honor their past players and executive. As such it is news to us that the Washington Redskins have announced that they will be honoring Chris Samuels and London Fletcher to their Ring of Honor.
Chris Samuels played all ten of his seasons in Washington where he would start all 141 of his Games at Left Tackle. Drafted 3rdoverall in 2000, Samuels would be named to the Pro Bowl six times.
London Fletcher played the last seven of his sixteen seasons in the NFL with the Redskins and it was the most successful tenure of the Linebacker’s career. Fletcher was chosen for four straight Pro Bowls (2009-12) and never had a season where he finished with less than 111 Combined Tackles. He would lead the NFL in that statistic in 2011 and he would also contribute with 12 Interceptions and 11.5 Sacks.
Samuels and Fletcher become the 50thand 51stmembers of the Ring of Honor.

Our Top 50 All-Time Houston Astros has been revised
Yes, we know that this is taking a while!
As many of you know, we here at Notinhalloffame.com are slowly generating the 50 of each major North American sports team. That being said, we have existing Top 50 lists out and we always consistently look to update them when we can and based on necessity. As such, we are very happy to present the first revision of our top 50 Houston Astros of all-time.
As for all of our top 50 players in baseball we look at the following:
- Advanced Statistics.
- Traditional statistics and how they finished in the American League.
- Playoff accomplishments.
- Their overall impact on the team and other intangibles not reflected in a stat sheet.
Remember, this is ONLY based on what a player does on that particular team and not what he accomplished elsewhere and also note that we have placed an increased importance on the first two categories, which has altered the rankings considerably.
This list is updated up until the end of the 2018 Season.

There is a significant shift in many of the players and a few new ones based on shuffling of the metrics we have used for our Top 50s.
The biggest change based on recent play is Altuve’s rise to number 5.

The Florida Panthers to retire Roberto Luongo jersey
Regular visitors of Notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL and MLB. Once that is done, we intend to look at how each team honor their past players and executive. As such it is news to us that the Florida Panthers have announced that next season, they will be retiring the number 1 of Roberto Luongo on their March 7 home game against the Montreal Canadiens.
The Goalie joined the Panthers after being traded from the New York Islanders where he only played 24 Games after being drafted fourth overall in 1997. Splitting netminding duty with Trevor Kidd for the 2000/01 Season, he would quickly become the team’s primary Goalie.
Florida would struggle to put together a competitive hockey team but it would become quickly clear that this was no fault of Luongo, who was the main reason why they were even in most games. In each season from 2002-03 to 2005-06 (2004-05 never occurred due to the lockout) Luong would finish first in Goalie Point Shares and he was named a Second Team All-Star in 2003-04.
Luongo would be traded to the Vancouver Canucks before the 2006/07 season as he was set to become a free agent the year after and negotiations were not going well. With the Canucks, he would take them to the Stanley Cup Finals and after seven and a half years in Vancouver, he was traded back to the Panthers during the 2014/14 campaign where he would still thrive and have two top ten Vezina voting finishes before retiring at the end of last season.
Luongo would record 230 of his 469 Wins with the Panthers while posting a 2.61 Goals Against Average.
This marks the first time in franchise history that a jersey is being retired.
Luongo is eligible for the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.
