Best known for what seems like a novelty hit (Stacy’s Mom), Fountains of Wayne were actually a decent Power Pop band who has a catalogue of music that shows a decent evolution and is far greater than what the average fan perceives them as. Of course, perception is reality and that goofy song might just be the yoke that prevents them for a serious HOF shot. 

She was already pegged as a future legend before she turned twenty, but the lofty expectations were not something that Fiona Apple could possibly meet. Regardless of that fact, Apple became a cult figure with only five full length albums over the past twenty-five years, though due to her personal issues is actually remarkable. Had Fiona Apple became half of what was expected of her (though her career is still a very respectable one), she would likely be Cleveland bound, but she still might be, as mystique is a powerful asset for a Rock Hall candidate.

Considered one of the pioneers of the Big Beat sound, Fatboy Slim struck International Gold in the late 90’s. His energetic music appealed to lovers of Dance, Trip-Hop and Alternative and with heavy MTV airplay (thanks to clever videos), Fatboy Slim became as popular with the record buying public as he was with the highbrow music magazines. This is one of those artists that once eligible for the Hall could be a real wildcard possibility.  

A lot was expected out of the Texas band, Fastball after their monster smash, “The Way” dominated the radio with a near perfect blend of Alternative and Pop. The end result was a perceived one hit wonder, with a strong emphasis on the word wonder, as this was a band that really should have been able to capitalize on the success and sound they had.
