The Road Warriors were not just a tag team; they were a force of nature.  With their painted faces, spiked shoulder pads, strange haircuts and cerebral manager (Paul Ellering) they created a new style of power wrestling in the 80’s.  They didn’t just beat their opponents, they destroyed them.  When they won their first recognized world title in the AWA over the near sixty year old Crusher and forty four year old Baron Von Raschke they showed the wrestling world what the future was going to look like.

Despite her long career in the WWE, Sunny actually didn’t have her first WWE wrestling match until the battle royal at Wrestlemania 25.  Then again, during her peak while working for Vince McMahon, she didn’t have to.  Although Sunny was not the first non wrestling female of note in the WWE, (Elizabeth holds that honor) Sunny was a superstar in the dawning multimedia age.  At one point she was considered the most downloaded woman on the internet and why not?  With her California good looks, a smile that could be both cute and sultry and an overall appearance that could also appeal to any demographic, Sunny was also a great personality who could deliver on the microphone.   She may not have been the first female inducted into the Hall of Fame, but she does go in as the first “Diva”.

The Icon.  The Main Event.  The Showstopper.  The Heartbreak Kid.  Mr. Wrestlemania.  Every nickname that Shawn Michaels bestowed upon himself was boisterous and reeked of an arrogance that seemed impossible for a man to live up to.  The amazing thing was that he was that good and lived up to every moniker that was associated with him.

Hoooooooooooooo!!  One common formula in wrestling is to find a character that identifies with the American working class.  Many have tried that role and some have even excelled.   Nobody ever embodied that role better or longer than “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.
