Meet the second biggest theft from the Boston Red Sox by the New York Yankees.

The ace of the Yankees staff in the 1930’s, Red Ruffing won 15 or more games 11 times, including a four year stretch where he exceeded the 20 Win mark.  Ruffing would represent the Yanks in six All Star Games and would also be a key figure in helping New York win Six World Series Titles.

Ruffing had the benefit of a lot of offense but this was an excellent strikeout pitcher who would twice lead the AL in SO/9 and finished in the top five in WHIP eight times.  Notably he was a good hitter, with a career .270 Batting Average as a Yankee.  That actually moved him up higher on this list than what we originally anticipated.

He would enter the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1967 though probably should have entered Cooperstown sooner.  The Yankees
