We are a little late in taking a look at this at this, but a very significant retirement has taken place in the National Basketball Association. 

Los Angeles Clipper, Paul Pierce announced prior to the 2016-17 season that this would be his last in the National Basketball Association.  With the Clippers first round exit at the hands of the Utah Jazz, the career of Pierce officially came to an end.

A First Team All-American in 1998 at the University of Kansas, Pierce was drafted 10th overall by the Boston Celtics and would immediately become a starter.  Pierce would really blossom in his third season where he finished with an average of over 25 Points per Game, and the following season he would go to his first of ten All Star Games.  He would also be named a Second Team All NBA Selection once and a three time Third Team All NBA Selection.

While statistically it wasn’t his best season, 2007-08 has to be the most magical one for Pierce.  In the Celtics off-season, they acquired Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett and they would win the NBA Championship with Pierce leading the way as the Finals MVP. 

Overall, Paul Pierce retired with 1,343 Games Played with a 19.7 Points per Game Average.  In our eyes, Pierce will get into the Basketball Hall of Fame and likely on the first ballot.

We have said before that the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame has quickly become one of our favorite franchise Halls.

Today they added to it as three former St. Louis Cardinals, Mark McGwire, Pepper Martin and Tim McCarver have been chosen.

Traded from the Oakland Athletics midway through 1997, Mark McGwire brought an even bigger bat to the Midwest.  In 1998, McGwire would set the new single season Home Run Record with 70, and followed it up with 65 the year after.  In his four and a half seasons with St. Louis, he tallied 220 Home Runs with a 1.111 OPS.

Achieving more fame as a broadcaster, Tim McCarver was a Cardinal for twelve seasons.  An All Star twice, McCarver helped St. Louis win the World Series in 1964 an d 1967 and would accumulate 1,029 Hits over his career with the Red Birds.

Like McCarver, Pepper Martin also helped St. Louis win two World Series Championships (1931 & 1934).  A member of the famed “Gashouse Gang”, Martin was an All Star four times and led the National League in Stolen Bases three times.

For most people this isn’t news. 

Of course, most people don’t own the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Last night at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, three of the four actors who portrayed “The Wonders” took to the stage and played their hit in both fiction and reality, “That Thing You Do”.

Present was Tom Everett Scott (Guy), Jonathan Schaech (Jimmy) and Ethan Embry (T.B. Player) and they donned matching white shirts and black ties.  Scott, even put the shades back on for the impromptu reunion!

While most sites view this as a fluff piece, this is anything but to us!

We are a couple of weeks away from announcing our Semi-Finalists for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Wonders have reached that level in both of the years of our Hall’s existence.

Does this “reunion” bode well for the Wonders making our Hall?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony of 2017 is in the books but that doesn’t mean that we can’t look forward to the 2018 version. 

So far, we like what we see.

Cleveland will be the host of the ceremony, to be held at on April 18 at the Public Hall.  It was last held there three years ago, a continuing pattern as it was also there in 2012 and 2009.  HBO will again have the exclusive rights to broadcast the event.

Perhaps this will be the year that Notinhalloffame.com will attend!
