Bobo only played for the Tigers for three seasons, but in that time frame he was an All Star twice and finished second in bWAR for Pitchers twice. Most notably in the 1940 season he was the workhorse of the Tigers staff that won the American League Pennant, though Detroit would go down to defeat in seven games to the Cincinnati Reds. Newsom would hurl 26 Innings with a 0.846 WHIP and a 1.36 ERA in that post season classic, a performance that propelled him up this list.
Statistically speaking, the well travelled Newson had his best tenure of his (very) fringe HOF career with the Tigers, though he played more seasons with four other teams.
Either that or we just love the name Bobo, which we most certainly do!
