There have been a lot of unlikely Cy Young winners over the years, but perhaps nobody more shocking than Rick Sutcliffe, who won the NL version of 1984.  This is not because he wasn't a good Pitcher or a flash in the pan but because he never arrived in the National League until June 13.

Sutcliffe was 4-5 with an ERA over five, and he was part of a large trade from Cleveland.  Sutcliffe immediately went on a tear, going 16-1 and propelling the Cubs to their first NL East Title.  He would later be named an All-Star twice for the Cubs (1987 and 1989), the former seeing him lead the NL in Wins and finishing second in Cy Young voting.  Before he signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 1992, Sutcliffe would rack up 82 Wins with 909 Strikeouts.

Chicago named Sutcliffe to their franchise Hall of Fame in 2021, the first year of its existence.
