It was a very good start for George Scott in the Majors, where as a rookie, he was named to the All-Star Team and was third in 1966 Rookie of the Year voting.  Playing at First Base for the Boston Red Sox, Scott had an above-average glove, and he was a decent power hitter, and “Boomer” became a fan-favorite at Fenway.

Scott won his first of what would be eight Gold Gloves in 1967, but he almost lost it all in 1968 when his batting prowess left him, and he batted .171 in 124 Games.  Luckily for Scott and the Red Sox, he regained his hitting stroke, though he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1972.

Scott played for the Brewers for five seasons, where he had at least 17 Home Runs each year, including a league-leading 36 (also with a first-place finish in RBIs with 109) in 1975.  Scott finished eighth in MVP voting that year and was an All-Star for the second time.  The First Baseman was traded back to Boston in 1977, where he was an All-Star again when he had a 33 HR year.  Scott finished his career with Kansas City and New York (AL), and he retired after the 1979 season with 1,992 Hits, 271 Home Runs, and 1,051 Runs Batted In.
