P.O.D.

P.O.D. (Payable on Death) utilizes a myriad of influences (Christian, Metal, Hip Hop, Latin, and Reggae) and manages to put them together perfectly. The San Diego based band had a solid decade on the Alternative charts, though that seems to be waning in recent years. This is likely another case of a really good band that just did not make a big enough splash to be considered Hall of Fame worthy.

Veruca Salt

Another band that benefited from the Alternative explosion of the 90’s, Veruca Salt, was overlapped the lines of cute and Grunge and effortlessly. With a couple of solid efforts in the mid 90’s, they were able to achieve a modest level of success, but it was not over a long enough period of time to really be considered a Hall of Fame contender.

Unwritten Law

Their story hasn’t been written yet, and this may be good as there as an excellent chance that California’s Unwritten Law has some of its best work still left in them. They have been labeled by some as a Skatepunk band, but this was a label that never quite fit, and they were more of a standard Indie Rock band. They still have a lot left in them, but there a lot of Alt bands from there era in which they are behind.

Soul Coughing

A New York City Cult band, Soul Coughing was an Experimental Rock band that was very difficult to categorize. Were they a Post Grunge Band, or a Noise Rock band, or a strange combination of both? Regardless of what label they did or did not have, their fan base was a solid one and though they are from a Hall of Fame contender, they did make their mark.
