Rowlf the Dog

Rowlf the Dog
In what would be the first Muppet of note (seriously, check it out) Rowlf the Dog was the piano playing dog of Muppet fame. Personally, he was a favorite of ours with his combination of sarcasm and talent, and we could easily imagine him playing the Vegas circuit. Actually, he would probably be more entertaining than some of the lounge singers we saw there.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Muppet Show (1976-80)

Actors:
Various

Songs you might remember:
Surprisingly, there are none

Why you should vote for him:
Wow…this dog was so likable.

Why you should not vote for him:
Like the Electric Mayhem post, Rowlf had no signature songs.

Ross Geller

Ross Geller
This is not a misprint. Some of our favorite episodes in the megahit, Friends, are where we learn of Ross Geller’s “musical ability”. In flashback episodes, it is implied that Geller looks to become a musician while performing on his keyboard. He did have a gig at Central Perk, where everyone believed he stunk; except for Phoebe who was actually concerned that he was a threat. That may seem incomprehensible, but remember on this show he got Rachel.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Friends (1994-2004)

Actor:
David Schwimmer

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for him:
If you remember the mid 1990’s, you understand how big this was.

Why you should not vote for him:
As a musician, he was terrible. Also, how the hell did David Schwimmer get Jennifer Anniston?

Armada
Armada was a garage band on The Kids in the Hall who strived to “make it”, despite having no discernable talent. As a recurring sketch on the Canadian show, we knew they really didn’t have a shot, even when Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes made an appearance on the series finale.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Kids in the Hall (1988-94)

Actors:
Bruce McCullough (Rod Torfulson, Drums)
Mark McKinney (Heman Menderchuk, Bass)
Kevin McDonald (Lead Guitar)

Songs you might remember:
Trampoline Girl

Why you should vote for them:
This was one of the better recurring sketches on a great sketch show.

Why you should not vote for them:
They never did “make it”.

Rockula

Rockula
Normally we can’t stop watching cheese, but we admittedly fast forwarded through most of “Rockula”, which starred 80’s staple Dean Cameron (since this was in 1990, he had passed his expiration). Cameron played a 400 year old vampire virgin who became a rock singer. Why did he want to be a singer? We fast forwarded it so we don’t have a clue. Somehow, we doubt it matters.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Rockula (1990)

Actor:
Dean Cameron

Songs you might remember:
He’s Rockula

Why you should vote for him:
This is the best 400 year old vampire turned rock star role of all time.

Why you should not vote for him:
The above statement says it all. Not even Chainsaw would like this one.
