The Wonders

Wonders The
One of the strongest entries on the ballot has to come from the Tom Hanks 1996 film, That Thing You Do. The movie is the story of an early 1960’s one hit wonder, (called the Wonders appropriately) and their rise and fall. It was a very good film that was fun and gave us a catchy song that sounds perfect for the era it represented. We would be surprised if this did not enter the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a quick fashion.

The Bullet Points:

That Thing You Do (1996)

Ethan Embry (T.B. Player, Bass and Backing Vocals)
Larry Antonino (Scott “Wolfman” Pell, Guitar)

Songs you might remember:
That Thing You Do

Why you should vote for them:
They meet every conceivable qualification you should be able to think of.

Why you should not vote for them:
Does being even a fictitious “one hit wonder” work against them?

Wolfgang Von Colt

Wolfgang Von Colt
The 2012 film, Rock of Ages was not considered a financial success, but there were moviegoers who did like the adaptation. We can understand it, as the songs covered in the film may not be deep, but were fun songs in an era that has become celebrated. Many of those covers were done by members of the group, Wolfgang Von Colt which comprised the male and female leads, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta, though we never really saw the band until the end, and most of the musical numbers that the two leads did were not in band form. Does this affect them on the vote? It just might!

Winslow Leach "The Phantom"

The Phantom
The Phantom of the Opera may have been a tragic figure, but the Phantom of the Paradise was a bit of a nerd. Let’s explain a bit shall we?

We will go on record stating our love for the 1974 cult film, but when we first meet the talented composer, Winslow Leach, he is brought to us a nebbish goofball of a man who was easily manipulated by the music guru, Swan. After a series of events only possible on film transform into the Phantom, we have a character that is equal parts cheese and dark. This was a love it or hate it movie, and if you love it, does not the title character deserve a vote?

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

Actor:
William Finlay

Songs you might remember:
Faust
Never Thought I’d Get to Meet the Devil

Why you should vote for him:
This is the title character after all.

Why you should not vote for him:
Like many cult films, it does not have a mass audience.

Winifred

Winifred
In Robert Altman’s “Nashville”, we really only saw one star that would do anything it took to make it to the top. Winifred left her husband shows persistence that is unequalled in modern cinema and received her shot in the most bizarre set of circumstances imaginable. Does this kind of perseverance deserve a Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame entry?

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Nashville (1975)

Actor:
Barbara Harris

Songs you might remember:
It Don’t Worry Me

Why you should vote for her:
Well, she did make it at the end.

Why you should not vote for her:
She was not the most interesting character in the film.
