In another attempt to replicate the Monkees, The Guys Next Door was a goofy Saturday Morning show featuring a group of young people who lived in a house and performed lame comedic sketches. They also performed as a boy band and actually had a minor hit in the United States, though after that and their thirteen episodes, that was about it. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Guys Next Door (1990) Actors: Eddie Garcia Patrick J, Dancy Bobby Leslie Damon Sharpe Christopher Wolf Songs you might remember: I’ve Been Waiting For You Why you should vote for them: There may have been only 13 episodes, but they did have a dedicated fan base. Why you should not vote for them: Boy Bands are bad enough for many, this one did not even last long.

Called the Canadian Country Music version of Spinal Tap (though we don’t know if there was a call for that) we have “The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico” which has the title character rise up the ranks of the Country Music scene only to fall victim to the excess of the lifestyle. With cameos by Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Levon Helm, it made us want to take a look, and you know what…this wasn’t bad. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico (2005) Actor: Matt Murphy Songs you might remember: Just a Show Make Believe Why you should vote for him: This is actually a decent film. Why you should not vote for him: Outside of Canada, this didn’t exist.

By the time Elvis Presley’s career got here, nothing really mattered. This time he played a singer (shocker) who gets involved with thieves in Europe…oh and he sang Old MacDonald, which had to be an all time low. EIEIO.

From the short-lived sketch comedy, the Ben Stiller Show, we have a Seattle parody of the Monkees called what else; The Grungies! The bit was a bit dark, but was a bright spot on what only lasted thirteen episodes. Incidentally, the sketch is better known for being the source of an email feud between Judd Apatow and Mark Brazill. You can Google that history yourself. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Ben Stiller Show (1992-93) Actors: Ben Stiller (Jonsie) Bob Odenkirk (Stone) Andy Dick (Dolly) Jeff Kahn (Tork) Songs you might remember: We’re the Grungies! Why you should vote for them: We can honestly say that of all the Monkees parodies, this was our favorite. Why you should not vote for them: Does any bit from a show that lasted only thirteen episodes deserve to be here?
