Loaded Blanks

Loaded Blanks
Do you remember when it looked like Ally Sheedy might have a successful movie career? After “Maid to Order”, neither did she. For our purposes, the only think worth remembering was Hair Metal band, Great White performing as “Loaded Blanks” for reasons we can’t remember.

Llewyn Davis

Llewyn Davis
The Coen Brothers gave us a Cannes Award winning film in the form of “Inside Llewyn Davis” which takes a look at a week in the life of the Folk Singer in 1961. Those seven days rook place in Greenwich Village, and it captured the musical scene there almost perfectly. It was inspired by an icon of the scene, Dave Van Ronk who is probably one of the most influential musicians you never heard of. This influence certainly makes the music of the film sound genuine, which is critical for a film of this type. If this gains a cult audience, we think this could be a potential contender.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)

Actor:
Oscar Issac

Songs you might remember:
Hang Me, Oh Hang Me

Why you should vote for him:
Musically, this is what you want from an inductee.

Why you should not vote for him:
This only had a small audience. Somehow, a larger fan base seems to be what this Hall of Fame should require.

Lisa Simpson

Lisa Simpson
For years, all we knew about Lisa Simpson’s musical ability was that she was an excellent saxophone player, but in a 2005 episode she enters the Krusty the Klown L’il Starmaker Competition and shows off moderate singing ability. We have to say moderate, because she won based on the genius (wait…we are saying genius about this man?) of Homer Simpson writing pro Springfield songs, and switching sides and penning horrible songs for her opponent. She still wasn’t a great singer, but she did win a competition.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Simpsons (1988-)

Actors:
Yeardley Smith

Songs you might remember:
Jazzman

Why you should vote for her:
My God, how long has this character been around?

Why you should not vote for her:
She was not a great singer, and though she can play the saxophone well, are there not more acts in Springfield you remember more?

Linnea Reese

Linnea Reese
A Gospel Singer from Robert Altman’s masterpiece, “Nashville”, Linnea Reese (Lily Tomlin) was a focal point of the film and easily one of the most interesting characters in the movie. Tomlin was amazing in the ensemble piece and was nominated for the Oscar for her performance. Has she been more of a singer in this movie, we could see her as a dark horse entry for our Hall of Fame.
