From Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, we have a hotel lounge act that caterwauled “Scarborough Fair” badly. They weren’t featured much in the film, but we remember them mostly for Bill Murray bedding the lead singer in a one night stand. We wish we didn’t have to hear her sing “Midnight at the Oasis” in the shower though.
The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Lost in Translation (2003)
Actors: Catharine Lambert (Singer) Francois Du Bois (Piano) Tim Leffman (Guitar)
Songs you might remember: Scarborough Fair
Why you should vote for them: This was an excellent film.
Why you should not vote for them: It was a throwaway part.
From the great nation of Australia, we have a nice film about an All-Aboriginal female singing group who went to Vietnam to entertain the troops. It is very loosely based on a real life group and the film is equal parts drama and comedy; though a little cliché ridden. Still, for non-Australians who may not be familiar with it, it is work a look.
The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Sapphires (2012)
Played by former Wu-Tang Member and musical genius, RZA, Samurai Apocalypse had a brief storyline arc on Californication, where he was a Gangsta Rap mogul who hired Hank Moody to pen some lyrics. Moody could write, but if you have seen this show you already know what Hank did with Samurai’s love interest.
The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Californication (2011)
Actor: RZA
Songs you might remember: None
Why you should vote for him: Our best argument is that this is the RZA, and that is enough alone.
Why you should not vote for him: There was little music from this character, just a lot of use with a gun.
In the chick-flick, Just Friends, Anna Faris a self absorbed Pop princess who plays an antagonistic role in the movie. The film wasn’t special but some did like Faris’ performance in the movie and did offer a few laughs.
