Dear God, spare us from having to write up this piece of stink. Sadly, this is not referring to the Beatles Album as technically they never adopted any other persona so they don’t really qualify here. No, this is film adaptation that really nobody asked for, and frankly trying to recap the plot gives us a headache. Basically, we have Billy Shears (Peter Frampton) who somehow recruits his friends the Henderson Brothers (The Bee Gees) to form his band. Confused yet? Either way, watching the film won’t resolve any unanswered questions. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) Actors: Peter Frampton (Billy Shears) The Bee Gees (The Henderson Brothers) Songs you might remember: A bunch of Beatles Covers Why you should vote for them: Well…they tried at least. Why you should not vote for them: This movie was a prom night dumpster baby. {youtube}

You will have to indulge this nominee for us. The plot for this very episode 1980’s episode of the Facts of Life, saw young Andy enter the girls into a singing contest where the prize was meeting (El DeBarge). Why that was his dream is anyone’s guess, but through the magic of the world of situation comedies, it happened and we saw the girls “backup” sing to “You Wear it Well”. Frankly it is an image we can never forget…no matter how hard we tried. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Facts of Life (1985) Actors: Lisa Whelchel (Blair Warner) Nancy McKeon (Jo Ann Polnacek) Mindy Cohn (Natalie Green) Kim Fields (Tootie Ramsay) Songs you might remember: Nothing Why you should vote for him them: Um…….. Why you should not vote for them: They never did sing. {youtube}

We make no apologies, as we aren’t always able to keep our personal feelings aside. With that we admit we will never understand the appeal for anyone in Michael Cera to make him a movie lead. As the doofus kid in Arrested Development, yes, as a leading man…we don’t get it. With that said, there was a time when he was not just a successful leading man, but a successful one; mainly because he always had the perfect role for his skill set. One example was when he was cast as Scott Pilgrim in the movie adaptation from the popular comic books. For our purposes, he was the leader of the band Sex Bob-omb, which was not just his garage band, but one that was featured in the plot somewhat. We can say what we want about Cera, but this is probably more of legit contender for our Hall of Fame than 90 percent of the others on the ballot. Oh…it doesn’t hurt that the music is provided by Beck for them…not bad, don’t you think? The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Scott Pilgrim vs The World (2010) Actors: Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim, Bass) Allison Pill (Kim Pine, Drummer) Mark Webber (Stephen Stills, Lead Singer) Songs you might remember: We are Sex Bob-omb Summertime Garbage Truck Why you should vote for him them: This movie did well, and music was prominently featured. Why you should not vote for them: The band was called Sex Bob-omb. Seriously, if there are women who visit this site, please explain the sexual appeal of Michael Cera, because we are completely baffled by it. {youtube}

Maybe the House Party series should have stopped at two. House Party 3 was panned by the critics, avoided by the viewers and forgotten by everyone. In the third film, Play tried to become a promoter and took on a hardcore all female rap group called “Sex as a Weapon” played by TLC. As mentioned, the film stunk, though this was not really the fault of TLC; they just cashed a paycheck. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: House Party 3 (1994) Actors: TLC Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them: TLC was an important act in their day. Why you should not vote for them: This film did nothing for their legacy. {youtube}
