85. Sigur Ros

Potentially the best chance for Iceland to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Sigur Ros has been one of the most critically beloved bands in the past fifteen years. They have developed a sweet blend of Rock and Ambient and have that distinctiveness that the Hall claims to crave. The issue for this band will be how innovative they will be perceived as; as there is not exactly a lot of bands who seem to cite the Icelanders as an influence; at least not really any of note.  This is not as darkhorse a candidate as you think.

486. Sevendust

An exceptional Heavy Metal band, Sevendust has had a consistent career of producing respected albums, though doing so without having that breakthrough to the mainstream that other bands with weaker resumes have done. They are still very much active and could still have that album that could make a mass audience go back and look at their entire catalogue.

Savage Garden

If you were in to slickly produced Pop, there was few better than Australia’s Savage Garden. Although they only had two albums, they sold well and churned out hits internationally. Pop in its purest form has entered the Hall (ABBA), but the body of work pales in comparison to the Swedish stars. Basically, we can’t see this happening.

490. Of Montreal

From the Elephant 6 group (maybe that should be a Rock and Roll HOF induction), of Montreal could be the best project yet. Led by Kevin Barnes, the material of this band covers a wide range of emotions and experimental sounds without going too far in the land of quirkiness. This is one of those bands that has the potential to be viewed upon very highly over time.
