Sometimes the very things you are known for and essentially made you famous could be the very thing that breaks you down and brings you back to near anonymity. The Happy Mondays rose to prominence fueled by the drug fueled rave scene which propelled those same addictions that led to their dismantling.

The Happy Mondays were a very distinct group. Emerging from the musical hotbed of Manchester, the band embraced the “Madchester” scene and created some of the best Alternative Pop ever done. Their brand of Rock music drew from the emerging House and Hip Hop scenes without really sounding like they utilized those influences at all. Driven by their excesses, the Mondays were unfortunately prone to indulgence and somewhat nonsensical lyrics that made their overall (though limited) catalogue inconsistent: but when they hit the mark musically, few were better.
