Escape (The Pina Colada Song)
Highest Billboard Position:
#1 in 1979

Wait, another goofy relationship song?  Rupert Holmes makes the list with his monster smash from the late 70’s, Escape, best known as the Pina Colada Song.  The first clue that the song sucks is that is its title is a lousy drink (which unless you are on a beach in the Caribbean, no self respecting man should be drinking).

Want a song synopsis in a few lines?  A couple is in a rut and the man responds to a personal ad which turns out to be written by his wife, and actually has a happy ending.  Really?  That pair would be in couples therapy for years after that debacle and what female wants a guy who likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain?
