Kenny started out getting a couple hits, but not really separating himself from the pack. Then after a few years he found his beach bum persona, and that allowed him the huge success that he has achieved to this date. So much success, that he has sold over 30 million albums and still has a radio career to this date that has been going on for over 25 years. Of course, it wasn’t only the beach bum tunes. He has littered his career with love songs and sad songs that are stand-outs in the genre. But it has been the beach songs that have set him apart from other artists and helped to get him noticed by a mainstream audience too. His music has also evolved through the years to add more pop and rock elements, with that being one of the few ways to stay relevant at country radio. And in another section of his success, Kenny has not been a stranger to awards either, having received 6 Grammy award nominations and won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of The Year 4 times. He has certainly made it into the country history books, just not the Hall yet.
