Regular visitors to notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. We will eventually do the same for major NCAA schools. As such, it is important to us that the University of Nevada has announced the five new members and one team of its Athletic Hall of Fame Class.

The event will take place this October.

The new members are:

The 2008 Softball Team.  The Wolf Pack went 44-18 and won the WAC Regional Title.  Six of the All-WAC players were from Nevada, including Vanessa Briones, who was the WAC Player of the Year.

Garry Hill-Thomas, Men’s Basketball, 2000-04.  Over his four seasons in Nevada, Hill-Thomas scored 1,340 Points and took the school to its first Sweet 16.  He later played in the D-League and professionally in leagues in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, New Zealand, and Australia.

Luke Lippincott, Football, 2004-09.  Lippincott was a First Team All-WAC Selection in 2007 and had 3,014 Rushing Yards and 34 Touchdowns for the Wolf Pack while also accumulating another 472 yards and 5 Touchdowns from the air.

Krysta Palmer, Diving, 2012-16.  Palmer was a four-time Mountain West Champion, with three top-ten NCAA finishes, and led Nevada to its first Swimming & Diving WAC Title.  She later won bronze in the 3-meter springboard at the 2020 Olympics.

Michael Rockwood, Football, 1994-95.  Rockwood was a First Team All-WAC Offensive Tackle in both of his seasons in Nevada and was one of the school’s team captains.  He would later play in NFL Europe.

Tommi Virret, Men’s Skiing, 2001-04.  Virret was a two-time All-American who finished in the top 10 nationally twice. 

We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate the newest members of the University of Nevada Athletic Hall of Fame.

From the University of Nevada, Charles Mann became a starter at Defensive End in his second season, where he was a punisher on the pass rush.  Playing for the Washington Redskins for his first 11 Seasons (1983-93) had 82 of his 83 career Sacks with Washington, including three four seasons in the double-digits. 

Mann went to four Pro Bowls with the Redskins (1987, 1988, 1989 & 1991), and helped them win two Super Bowls (XXII & XXVI). He was especially strong in the 1987 postseason, accruing 4.5 Sacks in the playoffs.  Mann was praised for his work ethic and leadership and was one of the most beloved players in Redskins defensive history in and out of the locker room. 

Following his release from Washington in 1993, Mann signed with the San Francisco 49ers where he played one final season and helped in a reserve role win his third Super Bowl.
