A serious batch of hockey heavyweights are now eligible for the Hcokey Hall of Fame

We aren't kidding with that headline either.......

Look at this group....

Jeremy Roenick
Mats Sundin
Joe Sakic
Curtis Joseph
Brendan Shanahan
Olaf Kolzig
Teppo Numminen
Gary Roberts
Claude Lemieux
Bobby Holik

Roenick, Sundin and Sakic are certified HOF contenders and the others could earn a spot on our list.  We are working on our revisions soon.....   Any thoughts gang?

Pat Burns continually getting snubbed is a crime, and that has nothing to do with his recent passing.
Claude Lemieux rcently signed autographs with Darren McCarty in the Detroit area. They had a special price for a 16X20 photo of the fight where McCarty was just allowed to go off on him. It may well have been the most attended autograph signing of all time at the venue.

Everest. Naslund played an extra year in the Swedish League for Modo Hockey after he left the NHL. The Hall goes by three years after pro hockey, so he isn't eligible until the year after.

Good point about Shanahan, perhaps we weren't looking at him as a sure thing. Its Cujo who messes us up the most actually.

I think all of those guys, except possibly Holik and Numminen, deserve a spot on your list. As for actually getting to the hall of fame, Sakic and Shanahan are first ballot hall of famers and Sundin will get in, if not 1st ballot, than shortly after. Roenick, Joseph and Markus Naslund (who you forgot to add to your list,) might get at some point several years down the road.
And please add Markus Naslund to that list.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Naslund' s extra year in Europe. I think that's the same reason why Sergei Zubov isn't eligible this year.
The thing is sportsillust rated says that Naslund is eligible this year... strange.
Anyhow, I've always seen Shanahan as a sure thing. It's technically possible he gets the Joe Nieuwendyk treatment if the committee decides to try extra hard to get Lindros in, but I can't possibly see him waiting any longer than 1 year. My estimate is he goes in this year.
And yes, Claude Lemieux is the Robert Horry of the NHL... except more of a jerk.
And on a side note, I really hope this is the year Pat Burns makes it in 2012, but I don't think it'll happen. Sad.

Everest is right on about who gets in and who does not, and who deserves a list shot.
