gold star for USAHOF

8. Nikolaj Ehlers

8. Nikolaj Ehlers

Nikolaj Ehlers came to the National Hockey League by way of Denmark, making him one of the first true stars from the small Northern European nation.

Ehlers was the Ninth Overall Pick in 2014, and he debuted for the Jets the year after with a 38-Point year.  The Left Wing increased his production to 64 and 60 Points in the two years after, and after a down year in 2018-19 (37 Points), he finished the 2019-20 campaign two shy of 60.  After a few sub-par seasons by his previous standards, in 2023-24, Ehlers had his first 60-Point year (61) since 2017-18.  Ehlers followed that with a 63-Point year, and his play helped the Jets claim the top seed in the playoffs.   Winnipeg was bounced in the second round, and Ehlers departed Winnipeg for Carolina.

With the Jets, Ehlers accumulated 520 Points and a +106 Plus/Minus in 674 Games.
