Laine scored 64 Points as a rookie and finished second to Matthews for the Calder. In his sophomore year, the Finnish star had 44 Goals, with a league-leading 20 on the Power Play. Since that time, Laine proved to be one of the better scorers for the Jets, providing an even 250 Points in 306 Games, but his time in the Province of Manitoba came to an unexpected end.
Winnipeg, believing they had enough finesse players, traded Laine after only one game into the 2020/21 Season to Columbus, in a move that perplexed some fans of the Jets.
