46. Mickey Redmond

46. Mickey Redmond

Mickey Redmond was a member of two Stanley Cup-winning teams in Montreal, but he was dealt to Detroit for Frank Mahovlich in January of 1971.  This marked the end of Redmond's era of playoff participation, but as a Red Wing, he achieved his greatest individual success.

Redmond scored 71 Points in his first full year in Detroit, which he grew to 93 Points in 1972-73, his best year in Hockey.  The Right Wing lit the lamp 51 times that year while leading the NHL in Even Strength Goals (37), and he was a First Team All-Star.  Redmond dropped to 77 Points the year after, but he still had 51 Goals with a league-leading 21 on the Power Play.

Redmond suffered back problems in 1975, and it degenerated to the point where he retired after the end of the 1975-76 Season at the age of 28.  He scored 309 Points for Detroit.
