gold star for USAHOF

27. Erik Johnson

27. Erik Johnson

Erik Johnson has been one of the better American Defenseman in the NHL while he was with Colorado, a long period that lasted 731 Games.

Arriving from St. Louis in a 2011 trade, Johnson brought a booming shot from the point and has logged a lot of minutes as a shutdown blueliner.  Johnson has had two seasons with ten or more goals for the Avalanche, and he would have a 39 Point season in 2013-14.  Following that highwater mark, Johnson had five more seasons of at least 20 Points, with seven in total.  A rock-solid defender, Johnson helped the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup in 2022.  He left in 2023 via free agency for Buffalo, but two years later, he concluded his career in Colorado when he was traded back to the Avs for their 2025 playoff run.
