gold star for USAHOF

48. Tyler Myers

48. Tyler Myers

It is not typical for a hockey player to have his best season as a rookie, especially for non-Goalies, but this is the case for Defenseman Tyler Myers.

Myers was a First Round (12th Overall) Pick in 2008, and the Defenseman debuted the following year for the Sabres, scoring a career-high 48 Points.  He would win the Calder Trophy that year, and like every Calder winner, bigger and better things were expected for Myers.

That didn’t happen.

Myers scored 37 Points in his second year, but he never reached 30 Points in a season again as a Sabre, and his advanced metrics also never matched his rookie year.  The Sabres traded him to Winnipeg in a multi-player deal in 2015.

He would have 151 Points as a Sabre.
