gold star for USAHOF

43. Rasmus Ristolainen

43. Rasmus Ristolainen

In the 2013 Draft, Rasmus Ristolainen was a highly coveted prospect from Finland, and the Sabres agreed, as they captured him with the number eight pick.

The Defenseman split his first year in North America with Buffalo and Rochester of the AHL, and two years later, he was the top blueliner on the Sabres.  Ristotainen used his size (6' 4") to lock down the opposition, but he also ran the point well, scoring 40 Points four years in a row (2015-16 to 2018-19).

The Sabres traded Ristotainen to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2021 off-season. leaving behind 245 Points in Western New York.
