22. Fern Flaman
Gordie Howe called Fern Flaman the toughest defenceman he ever faced. If that is true, that is about as good an endorsement as anyone could ask for.
Flaman played the blue line ruggedly and stingily and was considered among the toughest in a very tough sport. Flaman would have two stints in Boston, which sandwiched a run in Toronto, where he would win his only Stanley Cup. Still, it was in Boston that he would be named a Second Team All-Star three times. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990.
