213. Bobby Davis

The first WWWF Heavyweight Champion, Buddy Rogers was an early entry to the WWE Hall of Fame, which he should have been. Rogers had a manager, Bobby Davis, who was his “Bobby Heenan”, though he is not remembered nearly on the same level.

Known for their long goatees, dark sunglasses, cowboy boots, and sleek suits, ZZ Top is now considered as one of the greatest bands in the world because of their musical achievements. The band is composed of vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard. Houston's pride has received 11 gold records, 13 multi-platinum records, and have sold more than 25 million units for all their albums.

The legendary band was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. From touring the world playing in various concert venues, ZZ Top decided to invade the US casinos in 2002. The Casino Tour, which was in support of their 13th album "XXX", paved way for the band to share their music to a new breed of audience.

The gambling scene in the United States and Canada are quite huge so tapping into another market can increase the band's popularity. In one of the concerts of ZZ Top, Billy Gibbons shared his thoughts about their casino tour with the audience. He said, "After 40 years of touring, we finally made the big time, we get to play at a casino". This is another achievement for the band, who continues to provide good ol' rock and roll music to all their fans. With many casinos sprouting in different parts of the world including the United States and Canada, the opportunity for ZZ top to play their latest songs as well as classic hits is endless.

Just like the music world, wherein bands compete to reach the top of the music charts and bag an award, the casino industry is also highly competitive. According to casino consultant Robinsons & Associates, Inc., "The already competitive casino industry is getting even tougher in 2013." Because of the tight competition, many casino companies find a way to increase their customers. Trump Plaza recently had an agreement with Betfair Casino for their online gaming in New Jersey because casino consultants also believe that there will be a boom in online gambling in the US soon. Other casino companies resort to providing world-class entertainment just like Twin River Casino, which now has its own Event Center where people can watch the latest boxing matches and national acts.

In fact, ZZ Top is all set to perform there on November 15, 2013. The audience can expect to hear songs from the band's latest album called “La Futura” as well as other classic hits such as "La Grange", "Tush", "Gimme All Your Lovin'", and "Sharp Dressed Man" to name a few.

ZZ Top fans can also catch Gibbons, Hill, and Beard invade the Casino Rama Entertainment Centre (ON, Canada) on November 9, The Centre at Casino New Brunswick (NB, Canada) on November 13, and Harrrah's Cherokee (NC, USA) on December 31. Check out the band's official website for a complete list of tour dates.

It isn’t every day that you get to speak to a legend.  Recently, we here at notinhalloffame.com had the opportunity to chat with Charles Connor, the original drummer for Little Richard.  Our conversation with Charles allowed us to speak to a man who was not only a witness to the birth of Rock and Roll, but also the man who created its engine.

Charles Connor

Charles Connor was born in the cradle of American Music, New Orleans, Louisiana, to a Creole mother and a Merchant Marine father from Santo Domingo.  Connor jokes that when his mother would walk by a funeral procession, he would “be kicking in the womb along with the music.”  Recognizing his talent at a young age (Connor earned money as a toddler tap dancing for white tourists), his parents bought him his first drum set.  Even when he was not at his set, Connor would literally bang out beats on whatever was in front of him.  This included school desks that drove teachers crazy, but Charles couldn’t resist the temptation as he “just loved the sound those hollow desks would make.”
