So what the hell happened to Deep Purple?

I'm pulling for Chic just so I never see them on the ballot again. Ugh

I've never really cared for the solo work of Sting but it wouldn't shock me if he gets in.

Sympathy vote for Lou Reed will likely carry him over the top.

Green Day seems like their headliner.

Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths., and Stevie Ray Vaughn to fill out the rest?

Agreed. What the hell happened to DP!!!!!

Green Day seems to be the headliner, though i expect a backlash from many.

Whatever i can do to keep Sting out, i am in for. His solo work, though OK, isn't worth it.

As for Chic, just put them in already. This is getting so painful.

Chic..... the Susan Lucci of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

At least Susan Lucci finally won a daytime Emmy. Let's hope that Chic will finally "win an Emmy" as well because--yes--I'm getting tired of seeing Chic on the ballot too. Fish or cut bait.

It makes you wonder if they should have a moratorium. If you are on the ballot lets say three years in a row, and fail to get in, you shouldn't get a chance on the ballot for, i don't know, another three years.

I'm just throwing darts here, but this is getting sad.

Interesting idea. I don't think we're at crisis mode yet. Chic is the outlier--no other act has been nominated as many times as it has without being elected. Next is Chuck Willis, with six nominations, and he is a tough one right on the borderline. Next are Paul Butterfield and Joe Tex with four, and someone must be pushing for them, particularly Tex, because neither rise to the honor. Otherwise, there are ten with three nominations and eight with two. Not really a lot of repeat offenders, considering the pool of eligibles overall.

Agreed.... way far from crisis mode...and realistically, and i know i am the one who helped put this site together, it's just a Hall!

Still, Baseball takes people off the ballot after ten years. Maybe after 20 they can't be nominated. If after 45 years after your first album we can't assess you as a Rock and Roll HOF inductee, you just aren't.

Well, it appears that someone (Paul Schaeffer) convinced enough people to put Paul Butterfield Blues Band in the Hall. Not sure how. But we have our class...

Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Green Day
Bill Withers
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Lou Reed

Early Influence: "5" Royales

Musical Excellence: Ringo Starr

I have lots of thoughts, but how about you guys?

Working on the article now.

That one will be designed to be ambiguous,

but initial reaction.... Ringo WTF?

Can't stand Sting as a solo, so i'm happy about that.

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band were solid, but they didn't hang the world. They are going to be pointed at as one of those if ________ are in then how is ______ not?
