44. Sherman Smith

Historically speaking, Sherman Smith holds the distinction of being the first offensive player drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, which was where the Miami of Ohio Running Back would play six seasons.

Smith led the Seahawks in Rushing in the first four years of the team's existence and was in the top ten in Yards per Attempt in his first three seasons.  Smith was a dual-threat back, with him going over 1,100 Yards in Yards from Scrimmage from 1977 to 1979.  The Back was injured in 1980, and he was never the same after that.  He played with Seattle until 1982, playing one final year with the San Diego Chargers.

Smith had 5,771 Yards from Scrimmage with Seattle and was one of the first real offensive skill stars in franchise history.
