Leslie Herbert “Speedy” Duncan went undrafted in 1964 from Jackson State by both the NFL and the AFL, and he signed with the San Diego Chargers of the AFL; the team he spent the best part of his pro career with. Duncan saw limited action as a rookie, but over the next three seasons that he was a true dual-threat as both a Cornerback and a Returner.
Duncan was an AFL All-Star annually from 1965 to 1967. In 1965 and 1966, he led the AFL in Yards per Punt Return, with the first of the two years seeing him first overall Punt Return Yards. Duncan would have 5,394 Return Yard in total as a Charger, retuning four Punts back for a Touchdown. Defensively, Duncan had 21 Interceptions, which included a seven-pick year in 1966.
He played for the Chargers until 1970, where he signed with the Washington Redskins, where he would earn a Pro Bowl. Duncan joined the Chargers Hall of Fame in 1995.
