After being forced out of the 2011 season due to neck surgery, Manning was released by Indianapolis who had the number one pick and were able to draft Andrew Luck to take over at Quarterback. The Broncos signed Manning, but the questions were could he come back and what level would it be? As we now know, there was an awful lot of left for Manning to accomplish.
Peyton would win the 2012 AP Comeback Player of the Year Award and led the league in Completion Percentage and QBR. The Quarterback would take the Broncos to the playoffs and would return to the Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro honors. 2013 was even better where he had a career-high (and NFL leading) 5,477 Passing Yards and again was first in QBR. Manning, who again was named First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl rewarded led Denver to the Super Bowl, but, but he did win the MVP. He had a good 2014 and returned in 2015, but his playing level had deteriorated, and he would lose the starting job to Brock Osweiler, though he would get it back for the playoffs. Manning willed his Broncos to another Super Bowl appearance, this time winning in what was the game's 50th contest.
That would be the last game that Peyton Manning ever played.Manning walked into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year, 2021, with the Broncos inputting him to their Ring of Fame the same year.
