Vesuvius

Vesuvius
The Heavy Metal band that kicked Robert “Fish” Fishman (Rainn Wilson) out of the group in place of the nephew of a record executive to gain a contract, Vesuvius entered the pantheon of fictitious bands with eyeliner, hairspray and lip-syncing. It was not the best fake band, but it may have contained the funniest people.

Vamanos Pest

Vamanos Pest
Yeah, we know this isn’t even a real fictitious band. However, we couldn’t help but honor one of our favorite television shows of all time in Breaking Bad. When Walter White looked for a new way to cook meth without being detected he came across the idea of using fumigated houses. Enlisting the help of the comical and incompetent duo of Badger and Skinny Pete, we were treated to them buying roadie equipment for their band. As the stenciling came free due to the high volume of the purchase, the band name of “Vamanos Pest” was used. We hear they are big in New Mexico.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Breaking Bad (2012)

Actors:
Matt L. Jones (Badger)
Charles Baker (Skinny Pete)

Songs you might remember:
None, Bitch!

Why you should vote for them:
We admit…you really shouldn’t.

Why you should not vote for them:
Not only was this not a fictitious band, they had no musical instruments in the cases they purchased.

U.S. Teens featuring Raoul The
From the underappreciated concept album (The Turtles present the Battle of the Bands) by the Turtles we have an album where different “bands” appeared. This allowed the group to not only stretch their skills musically, as each “band” had a completely different sound and also showcase their humor.

The first track set the tone for the album as more of an intro piece. It may not be one of the better songs on the album, but how cool a fake name is the “U.S. Teens featuring Raoul”? That alone gets a thumb up from us!

The Bullet Points:
Album Appeared:
The Turtles present the Battle of the Bands (1968)

Actors/Performers:
The Turtles

Songs you might remember:
Battle of the Bands

Why you should vote for them:
Did we not make a strong enough case on the band name?

Why you should not vote for them:
We aren’t sure ourselves if the Turtles billing themselves under another name for one song only should even count.

Trace and Gina

Trace and Gina
Here is one we find fascinating. From the one (season) and done sci-fi show, Otherworld, the premise is that a family is transported into an alternate Earth with distinct provinces. In one of those regions, (Centrex) Rock and Roll never existed and the two teen siblings essentially the musical genre by replicating Rock and Roll standards.

Basically, they completely created pop culture in this region, and this is the only episode that those who watched the show remember. This might do better in the voting then you would think.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Otherworld (1985)

Actors:
Tony O’Dell (Trace Sterling)
Jonna Lee (Gina Sterling)

Songs you might remember:
I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Why you should vote for them:
Well...they did “create” Rock and Roll.

Why you should not vote for them:
Create Rock and Roll? They ripped everything off!
