This was the original band of Dewey Finn (Jack Black) in the successful comedy, “School of Rock”. Dewey was kicked out of the group when his over indulgent and quasi-hyperactive antics proved to be too much. His replacement led them to be a favorite in the Battle of the Bands, though Dewey had something to say about that!

Black was deliberately bad here.

Niggas Without Hats

Niggas Without Hats
It may have been praised by the critics, but the movie going public were oblivious to “Fear of a Black Hat”, which was a mockumentary of the Rap world, and a great satire at that. For whatever reason, it never took off, but might be worth a look by a viewing audience, though we doubt it will ever gain any serious traction here.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Fear of A Black Hat (1994)

Actors:
Rusty Cundieff (Ice Cold)
Larry B. Scott (Tasty Taste)
Mark Christopher Lawrence (Tone Def)

Songs you might remember:
Booty Juice

Why you should vote for them:
In terms of Mockumentary Rap acts, we don’t have many other candidates.

Why you should not vote for them:
The above may be true, but how many care?

Nick the Lounge Singer

Nick the Lounge Singer
As we were creating the ballot, we have been amazed just how many lounge singers we found. We always say though that a lounge act is a hard sell for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but what if it was Bill Murray as Nick the Lounge Singer? This was one of the classic characters from the early days for the show and it killed every time. If there is one lounge singer that could get in, could this be the one?

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Saturday Night Live (1976-80)

Actor:
Bill Murray

Songs you might remember:
Star Wars Medley

Why you should vote for him:
It was a great sketch, and this is Bill Murray!

Why you should not vote for him:
As we always say; does a Lounge Singer belong here?

Nick Rivers

Nick Rivers
From the creators of “Airplane”, Top Secret was a laugh a minute spoof that parodies Cold War movies as well as it roasted Elvis Presley films. Val Kilmer starred as Nick Rivers, the film’s main protagonist and 50’s singing teen idol that arrives in East Germany for a concert and winds up associated with the French Resistance. Sounds like a plausible series of events don’t you think?

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Top Secret! (1984)

Actor:
Val Kilmer

Songs you might remember:
Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Spend This Night With Me Baby Please

Why you should vote for him:
This is the best chance to induct a comedic spoof.

Why you should not vote for him:
The singing was goofy, and for some the worst part of the film.
