Clearly modeled after Phil Spector, Steve Kunelian (Lou Reed) was brought in to make Jonah Levin (Paul Simon) a star again. Kunelian was there to sweeten the sound, and he does so in a cocky and somewhat condescending way. It is an oil and water mix, and the casting of Reed (who is brilliant by the way) in this role gives it an almost meta feel. Honestly, he is our favorite part of the movie though we are glad we would never have to work with him.
