From the acclaimed 2009 film Crazy Heart, we have a journalist named Jean Craddock (Maggie Gyllenhaal) who is looking to do a story on Otis "Bad" Blake, who was at one time a major country music star but is now reduced to playing dives. She befriends Blake and helps revive his career and is a great plot device. Throw in that this is well acted, and we think we have a sleeper candidate here.
