One of the greatest shows of all-time is The Sopranos, a look at an Italian-American mafia family. The series had a lot of well-developed minor characters, one of which was Hesh Rabkin, a Jewish loan shark who occasionally acts as an advisor to Tony Soprano. Hesh made his initial fortune by signing young black artists and installing himself as a co-writer on many of their songs. It was unscrupulous, but certainly very common in the '50s and '60s, but he does know what a hit sounds like, as we saw in the Master Genius episode.
