In Just Friends, a standard rom-com, Ryan Reynolds played Chris Brander, a high school loser who was morbidly obese and was embarrassed at the prom when he expressed his affection for the pretty popular girl. The loser became a winner by losing weight and becoming attractive and, more importantly, becoming successful, in his case, a top record producer. Brander would come home a winner but, of course, had to learn lessons along the way.
