- Somewhat based on David Bowie (though he apparently hated the movie) we had the story of Glam Rock star, Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) from the movie, Velvet Goldmine. Slade is struggling with the trappings of fame, and snaps to the point where he fakes his own death on stage. Unfortunately for Slade, the faux suicide was viewed as a publicity stunt gone wrong. Musically, the film is very good, and it is a great snapshot of the Glam period, though without a mass audience, we just don’t see this entry going very far.
